Benfica could beat Liverpool and a host of other top clubs to the signing of River Plate youngster Manuel Lanzini. The 21-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most promising up-and-coming talents in South America at the moment, having established himself as a key member of River’s first-team, and drawing comparisons with legendary playmaker Juan Riquelme. Lanzini’s impressive rise has also seen him linked with the likes of Chelsea and Roma, but it could now be that he will make the move to Portugal to help launch his career in Europe.
